2008 - 2010 ilmarching.com Division III "Band of the Year"
WELCOME BACK! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break with friends and family, and that you are as excited and ready for a fun, energetic, and musical 2nd semester as I am!! We will be studying some very cool literature that will stretch your playing abilities, as well as some favorites from the online gaming genre and some Concert Band Masterworks. Plus, JAZZ BAND starts very soon! Make sure you check the performance calendar so you are up to speed on our spring events. EVERYBODY...ALL THE TIME.
EHS Marching Band Drum Major Auditions...will be held on Thursday, January 19th, at 3:30 in the EHS Band Room. Everyone who is currently in Band right now is eligible to audition, as well as any color guard member from last fall's squad. Please click here for audition information, here for a sample sheet on how you will be evaluated, and here for the audition mp3. Good luck to everyone who auditions, and PLEASE seek out the current drum majors to help you with conducting technique, as it is by far the most important and heavily weighted part of the audition process.
Pep Band is here, and is Rockin' and Rollin'!... Dates for our remaining performances are: 1/6, 1/12 (GBB), 1/17, 1/27, 2/2 (GBB), 2/3, 2/10, 2/17. Call time for each performance is at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise specified in class. Mark these on your calendars NOW!!!
Congratulations... to EHS Bassoonist Belle Moushon, for being selected to attend the Illinois Music Educator's Association ALL-STATE Convention in Peoria, later this month, in the Orchestra Division!
Congratulations... to Jessi Daugherty, for being selected as a member of the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps Color Guard, and for being selected to perform as a dance soloist in San Antonio, TX. Great job, Jessi!
Recruit, Recruit, Recruit! We always need more band members, so keep talking to your friends about being a part of our great band program. There is a place for everyone in the EHS Band! We will be starting drumline in the spring, and will also have earlier auditions and practices for Color Guard, so get your friends excited about joining Band...there is nothing like it!
Congratulations...to alumni Danielle Kuntz, Evan Stalter, Derek Jennings, and Allicia Mooberry, who are all members of the "Big Red Marching Machine" at Illinois State University, to Katy Boggs, who is marching with "The Power and Class of New England" marching band at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and to Lauren Painter, who is in her second year with the NIU Huskie Marching Band. And let's not forget Sally Jo Noack, who is captain of the WIU Marching Leatherneck cymbal line...way to go, Sally Jo!
The next Music Booster meeting will be Thursday, January 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in the EHS Band Room. Every parent who has a student in the District 140 music program from grades 5 through 12 is welcome and encouraged to attend.

News and Honors from the 2010 Marching Season
Congratulations... to the EHS Marching Band for being selected by ilmarching.com as Division III "Band of the Year"in 2010, the third year in a row! The band also won the Tom and LInda Ramseyer Grand Championship trophy at the Pontiac Indian Showdown. Great job, Band!
